Having watched The Story of Stuff, say its all totally true-how to change the model? If we the general public don't have power or money can we make a difference? I think the idea of the Corporations having the biggest influence may well have merit; why else does the govt bail them out.A bit simplistic! But a start !

ReplyDeleteI guess the feel of big starts to get overwhelming...quickly - but it doesnt have to - we do effect change - through good parenting - caring about others in work life and keeping laughing - a beautiful drug. I always get concerned when it seems like money is the key to difference - an example of a different simplicity - last weeks snow - more people than I had ever seen before - spoke aloud while walking - a little gentle piece of community building brought about by weather...

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your ideas. An interesting view. To me the story of stuff was something people already know but are choosing to ignore. The emotive way she was emphasizing things most likely helped people get it into their heads that yes indeed its a serious issue and yes I agree with you that a lot of attitudes that are out there may be that I’m just one person, what can I do? But we can do lots! Hahaha power to the people! :P catch you in class on Wednesday.
